I will be speaking this Saturday at MinneBar, a day-long festival of technology, design, and business talks, presentations, and discussions. This event has been running for several years now, and the folks behind Minne* work endlessly to make it a really fun (un)conference along with all the other events they host.

I will be giving a talk and leading a discussion on “The Missing Web Curriculum: What Every Web Professional Should Have Learned.” In this session I will talk about reasons why web instruction in higher education is vastly disconnected from the real world, and propose solutions for improving the way we prepare students (and mid-career professionals) for jobs in the web industry. I’ll draw from my experiences as an instructor at Hennepin Technical College in comparison to my experience as the owner of Bust Out Solutions.

Fun session, thanks! The “current products and tools” slide is useful to me – didn’t know about a few of those tools.
